Stretch and Tone Session 4

(running for 6+ years)-This course is a low-impact, full-body workout to help tone muscles, increase range of motion, mobility and flexibility and help reduce stress.  You will move through a series of stretching and toning exercises that will elongate and strengthen muscles.  No experience is necessary.  Bring a mat for floorwork and light hand-held weights or 2 filled up water bottles to use during the toning section.  

Cross Country & Snowshoe Trip to Jackson, NH Touring Center

The “Foundation” maintains 150 km of trails that are considered by many to be the finest cross-country ski trails in the Eastern United States. Jackson Ski Touring Foundation presents state of the art grooming on trails designed to suit every taste and ability, whether you prefer quiet striding through  old growth, New England forest, or all out skate skiing. You  can visit on-trail destinations: the warming cabin and Cocoa  Cabin on the Ellis River Trail. We will arrive to have a full day of cross country skiing or snowshoeing. You may bring your own equipment or rent at the touring center. Before heading back, we will dine at one of the fine local restaurants. This trip will enrich lives and promote a healthy lifestyle. Rental fees and food expenses are participant’s responsibility.  Maximum of 8 may participate on this trip.

Sushi Made Simple

Sushi may seem mysterious and exotic, but making great sushi at home is something anyone can do. Join this fun, hands-on adventure into the art of sushi rolling. You will choose from a wide assortment of sushi fillings, customizing your own rolls to eat during class. Miso soup and a dessert, both made with sea vegetables, will also be served. Everyone will receive a complimentary bamboo mat. No raw fish is used. This class is vegan-friendly. Please bring a cutting board, sharp, non-serrated knife, large bowl and a cotton dish towel. Cost includes all food.

INSTRUCTOR: Carol Steingart is a marine educator, owner of Coast Encounters, LLC, and specializes in unique programs centered around Maine’s rocky intertidal region.

Stretch w/ Hips & Low Back Concentration S4

This course is for people experiencing tight hips and low back discomfort , as well as active people and athletes.  Tight hips impact knees and low back.  Contributing factors are long periods of sitting which lock hips tight.  We begin with simple stretches and breathwork for deep relaxation and progress as mobility increases.  No experience is necessary, Bring a mat for floorwork.

As a member of the dental care team, Dental Assistants are responsible for helping prepare patients for dental procedures, and often assist with the procedures themselves.  Depending on the type of dental office, the dental assistant may even be involved in laboratory or surgical procedures.  However, regardless of the specialty, the dental assistant is responsible for providing direct patient care while working alongside the dentist.  This course will provide you with the information and skills necessary to serve in this capacity.  You will learn how to prepare patients for treatment, including taking X-rays and preparing the necessary equipment for each procedure.  You will also learn about the various dental specialties and the specific responsibilities of the dental assistant in each area of specialization. 

Willow Nolland is an expert in education and eLearning, with more than ten years of experience in curriculum development and instructional design. She has worked in higher education for over twelve years, and has developed numerous courses and has been involved in curriculum development across disciplines. She has experience with academic program development and coordination, curriculum development, student learning outcomes, educational partnerships, and student development. In addition, she has developed and administered professional development programs for various groups, including teachers, counselors, healthcare workers and members of private industry. She is a certified Quality Matters Reviewer and has taken graduate courses in online course development. She designs and teaches online courses at the college level and is proficient in a variety of course management systems. She has helped educators redesign their courses to transition them from a face-to-face format to an online format, and has provided course editing assistance to others. As a freelance instructional designer and curriculum developer, her projects have included course editing and redesign of online continuing education courses for nurses, CEU curriculum development for healthcare workers and teachers, and course review and editing for various colleges and universities.
